  8. Someone whose job is to discover information about crimes and find out who is responsible for them.
  9. Proof that someone who is thought to have committed a crime could not have done it, especially the fact or statement that they were in another place at the time it happened.
  10. An idea that is based on feeling and for which there is no proof.
